Eva was just 3 years old when scientists investigated the cause of her severe autism. They found a culprit: Chlorpyrifos -- a toxic pesticide sprayed on nearby peach farms while Eva was still in her mother's belly.
This invisible poison is all over our fruit, vegetables, and even in our water -- despite evidence linking it to permanent brain damage in babies, Parkinson’s, and cancer.
But right now, Europe is deciding whether to ban it -- and it could pave the way for bans across the world! Let's make sure it happens, with 1m signatures, polls, medical tests, and public education campaigns.
Sign now to show regulators everywhere that we want this poison off our plates and out of our children’s bodies:
Chlorpyrifos is so scary that sounds like it was born in a Nazi lab. That's because it was!
For years this poison, which belongs to a class of chemicals developed as a nerve gas made in Nazi Germany, has been marketed as "safe" -- based on a single study produced by the same chemical corporations that sell it! But now the independent scientific evidence that it’s killing people and nature is mounting.
And there's hope! California, where Eva lives with her family, just banned chlorpyrifos, following Hawaii and New York. If we win an EU ban now, we can use this momentum to take the fight to other major markets across the world -- starting with Brazil and big US States that are already considering reviewing their chlorpyrifos licenses.
Add your name to the global campaign to demand a ban on chlorpyrifos everywhere:
Dow Chemicals, the corporate mother of chlorpyrifos, has spent millions lobbying lawmakers and will pull every string to keep its product on the shelves. But Avaaz members are fearless. When chem-giant Monsanto took us to court for exposing the truth about their toxic chemicals, we came together from across the world and won the battle, proving that we’re unstoppable when we have science and people-power on our side. Now let’s take down Dow’s invisible poison… for Eva and all the children of the world.
With hope and determination,
