(USA) Leonard Peltier – neue Entwicklungen für den politischen Gefangenen Radio Aktiv Berlin 7. Februar 2025 Global

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Monday February 17, 2025– For the People LLC, will
hold a press conference to announce the release of Leonard Peltier, the
80-year-old Native American activist who has served 49 years in prison
following a controversial conviction for the 1975 deaths of two FBI
agents. The press conference will take place on Tuesday, February 18th, at
3:15 PM EST at the Uhuru House, located at 1245 18th Ave. South, St.
Petersburg, FL.

Leonard Peltier's case has been a source of intense debate and controversy
for decades. Supporters maintain his innocence, citing significant
evidence of prosecutorial misconduct, fabricated evidence, and suppressed
exculpatory information. They argue that Peltier was targeted due to his
activism with the American Indian Movement (AIM) and that his conviction
was politically motivated. Numerous human rights organizations, legal
experts, and prominent figures have called for his release over the years,
citing concerns about the fairness of his trial and the disproportionate
length of his sentence.

The press conference will feature Mr. Peltier’s lead attorney Jenipher
Jones and her co-counsel Moira Meltzer-Cohen along with various members of
the legal team and the Leonard Peltier Official Support Committee. They
will detail the legal arguments, strategies and commutation that led to
Mr. Peltier’s release. They will also discuss the broader implications of
this case for Native American rights and the pursuit of justice.

Members of the media are encouraged to attend the press conference.
