Rumsfeld arbeitete auch aktiv am Project for the New American Century mit, das 1998 und auch im September 2000 vorschlug, in den Irak einzumarschieren.

Inmitten der Aufregung und Verdammung von Nordkorea wegen des zweiten Atomtests wird nicht darauf eingegangen, wie der verschlossene stalinistische Staat seine Waffen überhaupt erst bekommen hatte - sie wurden von der US Regierung bezahlt.
Sowohl die Clinton- als auch die Bush-Regierung spielten Schlüsselrollen bei der Entwicklung von Kim Jong-ils Atomprogramm seit Mitte der 90er Jahre. Die Heucheleien, die von allen Seiten kommen als Reaktion auf die Nachricht, dass Nordkorea einen unterirdischen Atomtest mit einer 10mal höheren Sprengkraft als beim ersten Test im Jahr 2006 ausgeführt hat, sind vergleichbar mit denen, als die US Regierung den Besitz von chemischen und biologischen Waffen als Grund für die Irak-Invasion 2003 heranzog. Es war Donald Rumsfeld gewesen, der den Deal ausgehandelt hatte, um Saddam mit diesen Waffen zu beliefern. Rumsfeld war auch derjenige, der in seiner Funktion als damaliger Executive Director von ABB (Asea Brown Boveri) einem Abkommen im Umfang von 200 Millionen Dollar vorsaß, welches die Lieferung von Ausrüstung und die Bereitstellung von technischer Hilfe für den Bau zweier Leichtwasserreaktoren in Nordkorea im Januar 2000 zum Ziel hatte. Wolfram Eberhardt, ein Sprecher der ABB, bestätigte dass Rumsfeld während seiner Tätigkeit bei der ABB bei fast allen Vorstandssitzungen anwesend war. Rumsfeld führte lediglich die Politik der Clinton-Regierung fort, welche im Jahr 1994 zustimmte, die selbstgebauten Reaktoren der Nordkoreaner durch Leichtwasserreaktoren zu ersetzen. Sogenannte Regierungsexperten behaupteten seinerzeit, Leichtwasserreaktoren könnten nicht benutzt werden um Bomben zu bauen. Nicht so Henry Sokolski, Chef des “Non-proliferation Policy Education Centre” in Washington, welcher meinte:
“Leichtwasserreaktoren können zur Herstellung dutzender Bomben mit waffenfähigem Plutonium genutzt werden, sowohl in Nordkorea als auch im Iran. Das gilt für alle Leichtwasserreaktoren–eine erschütternde Tatsache, welche US-Politiker erfolgreich unterdrückt haben.”
“Diese Reaktoren sind wie alle Reaktoren, sie haben das Potential um Waffen herzustellen. So könnte man schließlich einen der schlimmsten nuklearen Aggressoren mit den Mitteln, die er braucht um sich Waffen anzueignen, versorgen,”

Mr Rumsfeld was a non-executive director of ABB, a European engineering giant based in Zurich, when it won a $200m (£125m) contract to provide the design and key components for the reactors. …….As the conflict ended with a truce and not a peace treaty, the two Koreas are technically still at war. sorry underground for my last post you are correct . though i havent heard of any direct threat of militery action, it is worth remembering (as im sure you already know)that the two countries could attack eachother at any momment without much warning, especially if the south felt that the north threatened their very existence.personally i believe the north (Kim Jong-Il ) uses the nuclear threat for his own political survival.if the money ran out who knows what would happen?without his military backing he`d be hanging from a tree.without money he`d have no power.the whole thing is very strange. theirs definitely more to this than we may ever know.any more info on this subject would be greatly appreciated ... ust like Iraq! Where do you think Iraq got chem weapons from? The USA. (And they did have them at one time.) I was at Ft. McClellan Ala. in 85 & saw foreign soldiers outside battalion HQ. Little did I know at the time what was going on. At that Ft. at that time they trained MP’s and CHEMISTS. We sold Iraq chem weapons which they used on Iranians. So it’s no suprise we sold nuke technology to NK. What nit twits! North Korea didn’t launch a rocket or missile or anything else into Alaska.
That is just an old internet rumor being repeated. The LWR’s DON”T, Won’t and can’t produce weapons grade fuels. BUT the spent fuel rods can be taken to another plant and turned into weapons grade plutonium. That other plant is the one that Jimmy negotiated and had shut down and put in moth balls during the Clinton regime. It had a monitoring system on it and they stopped using it completely until one day when a nut decided to call Kim part of the “axis of evil.”
Every dictator has to survive each and every day of their lives and Kim thought his days were numbered. While the Americans are busy invading Iraq, Kim starts his reactor back up in hopes that he can produce a bomb to scare the Americans from invading him. He couldn’t do it the first time so he made a mess and passed it off as a little tiny nuclear yield. It wasn’t, but fear mongering politicians claimed that it was, and that maybe it just didn’t produce a full yield.
Well Kim got it right this time. This one worked. But he would be happy to put away his toy’s for his own safety and anything else that he can squeeze the west for. Food for his army perhaps. Maybe some Time Square billboards that he can use to display his smiling face in the square for everyone to praise. Rumsfeld seems to be the “go to” man for dirty deeds, whether it’s Aspartame, Tamaflu, or whatever else he’s done.
How can anyone trust Rumsfeld? The U.S. Government does and doesn’t that tell you something about the U.S. Government? (Hint: $$$). How WILL Obama deal with this one then..?
