From 15 to 17 February 2013 took place in Hamburg a national meeting (BWT) for de.indymedia.org. This time, with greater participation than last time (!). The most important decision: de.indymedia.org will be not on 1 April 2013 off! But: There is still much to do, but the continued existence is assured. By this summer should be something as a new page go online. Next meeting: Either on 19.-21. April, 26-28th April or 3.-5. May.
The current state

Several new people are involved since the last few weeks. We have also held regional meetings e.g. in Hamburg [LINK] (result) [LINK]. For switching to the new content management system (CMS) Drupal has already been achieved:

It could be evaluated, what options are available to realize the open-source software in the Drupal 7.x version the page and implement all existing and also new possibilities.
It required modules were designed and created indy-specific configurations.
In addition, the CSS very similar to the current page.

By switching to Drupal, some past decisions BWTS and long-awaited improvements to be carried out so far by the outdated technology were not possible. On the BWT was voted to involve the users more in the moderation process ("User moderation"), to incorporate a regional component to dissolve the moderation boxes and replace with extra spaces, Blog Wire finally to implement correctly and translators to integrate better. In detail ...

New opportunities

The following features are already implemented or currently pending but classified as easy to implement functions.

1.On an important element, particular emphasis was placed: the user moderation. The new CMS will give each page visitor the opportunity to "report" an article or a supplement, that is to vote for hiding. After a certain number of such reports, the X articles / supplement is automatically hidden. A moderator can falsely hidden items (e.g. from Nazis hidden ones) activate again and overrule the number of messages permanently. Further it will be possible for each of the users to vote for Newswires or features. This does not result in an automatic step-up of articles, but they are meant to the moderators as a help what the users want so they can act accordingly. This will replace the previously very inefficient communication between users and moderators about the supplements. The idea of the user-involved-moderation is that the indy-visitors become more involved in the administration side. In the beginning this feature is only for registered users available, because we want to wait on experiences with spammers and Nazi scene.
2.And this is also a new feature: Authors may register (man knows already from other Indy sites that use Drupal). This item can be edited afterwards. de.indymedia.org arrived at last in the 21st Century.
3.Disappearance of the "boxes" / "Mod Box": In the BWT was decided that dates, appeals and opinions / comments / discussion papers are no longer considered as undesirable apply, but there will be a new field created with the new CMS, wich is to merge these . It will thus be on the home page next to the links to open posting, newswire archive and the topics include links to sub-pages for calls, appeals and opinions / comments.
4.Regional Focus: To promote the decentralization of de.indymedia.org, it will be for each item possible to be linked to a place / to specify a region. This allows man to search for articles about a particular place. It is desirable to generate based on this attribute optional region sub sites specially designed by layout bases. However, there must still be assessed the costs.
5.Aggregator function: In addition to the Newswire section, there should still be a blog wire area on the homepage. Here, Blog feeds are included that have inquired about the editorial email list. There is still need for discussion, such as how the blogs will be sorted.
6.Translators welcome! There is currently no more efficient structure to bring content of otherspeaking Indymedias coordinated on the German side (or vice versa). There should be also be a new link on the home page to a translation workspace. There foreign language content can be set and edited (analogous to open posting: an Open Translation) by translators to be then incorporated into the open posting area.

Adjustion of the moderation rules

The above mentioned changes require an adjustment of the moderation rules. It was decided that the existing division into open posting area (as usual as sub page), Newswire, and special feature (both on the homepage) and the sub page topics maintain. The rules to sort items in the respective areas remains largely. What is new is:

Dates and Views ("Leaflets Holders") or expressions of opinion, comments from groups and discussion papers can be marked as such by the users and thus pass automatically to the appropriate area. They will not include an "We do not want you" box (Box Moderation).
Crosspost: bloggers have the opportunity to enter their feed in the Wire blog. Thus we invite bloggers to enrich the portal Indymedia, a copy of the content is no longer necessary. Copies of commercial media will be considered in future usually as spam and hidden. Sooner or later the media of which the content comes will urge a hide.
User moderation: Registered Members can vote for the hiding of articles and supplements. The threshold value when they automatically disappear will be determined in a transition period and then released. Furthermore, moderators can hide content as before. Hidden items can be enabled again by moderators. Once activated by moderators articles and supplements can no longer be hidden from the users.
Registered and anonymous Members can vote for articles in open posting, newswire, feature and special areas. These are independent counters that are to give the moderators aid.

Discussion still waiting

At the regional meeting in Hamburg, the current amendment function has been questioned. Unfortunately, this point on the BWT was no longer discussed. The choices are

Amendments are abolished completely. Authors can change product itself and conflicting opinions can be created as a separate article.
The possibility that the / the author moderated the amendments of the article itself.
To create a forum below each article. For this purpose, it is possible that an extra moderation is needed.
To set the separation between off-topic and on-topic aside

It must also be decided how the various blog feeds should be sorted into the wire blog. In the first prototypical realization they were sorted simply chronological. The disadvantage is here that active blogs displace less actives. An alternative could be a grouped order, by topic or regions / places.

To do

The CSS is still a building site. The layout of the site is still not perfectly adapted to the current look. We could still use CSS specialists.
The foregoing named discussions should be done.
On the scalability of the page (proxies, cache ...) has yet to be worked. Here we could use a little technical assistance.
On the production server Drupal / PHP needs to be installed.
We should meet as soon as possible again. Possible dates have already been set: 19.-21. April, 26-28th April and 3.-5. May Location is not yet set.
