Just Wendland police cost "25 million" euros

The interior minister of Lower Saxony, Uwe Schünemann, has put the cost of assigning 12,500 police to the Wendland area for this Castor transport at 25 million euros. He told a news conference he hoped other states would share the load so that Lower Saxony makes do with the 20 million it budgeted. Schünemann said he could not yet say whether fewer police would suffice next time; that would have to be analysed shortly beforehand. With six additional Castors per year coming friom Sellafield to Gorleben from 2007 the aim was to combine the consignments so that 18 would be moved together.
