Climate Change March in DohaClimate Negotiations are over for another year with little progress in Doha by any one's measure as the scientific statements on climate change and the impacts we are already feeling as evidenced in record Arctic melting, and extreme weather events like Hurricane Sandy and Typhoon Bopha in the Philippines, and Cyclone Evan in the South Pacific are growing much stronger.

Speak Out For Russia – Tuesday 3 Sept

Anna Frank 25.08.2013 - 02:17
Soon world leaders will meet President Putin in St Petersburg, Russia. It’s a massive opportunity for us to build the pressure. If we gather in our thousands just before the meeting, on Tuesday 3 Sept, we can push world leaders to ask President Putin to repeal the anti-gay law, face-to-face.

Greatness or Mediocrity? Ethical human rights

Anthony Ravlich 23.07.2013 - 21:05
Do we want a great society based on ability and hardwork (often includes character) where people can reach their full potential or the prevailing mediocrity, with its descent-based 'bi-cultural' elite and, what I see as, 'arrested development' ?

Refugees forced to move away

[...] 16.07.2013 - 02:03
Bild On Monday, 15th July 2013, the refugees who have to live in the Lager in Heiligenhaus, where forced to move away from the place where they were living so far.

The authorities justified that with deficiencies in the statics of the containers where people had to live so far.

This caused resistance by the inhabitants – not that they wanted to stay in the containers, but because the alternative presented by the authorities would make the situation even worse. The plan of the City of Heiligenhaus was to force the inhabitants to move to an old school, where 82 inhabitants would have only one shower and four toilets. In the school six to ten persons should live in one single room! This decision was declared four days before it should become reality.

The refugees also had invited people with papers to support them in the discussions with the social worker, the janitor and a member of the city council.

groeNoord / Groenfront! 09.07.2013 - 15:35
Bild Since the first of Juli we have occupied a forest in Wilrijk, south of Antwerp in Belgium. It looks like it won’t be a very long occupation, because the owner has already started all the procedures to kick us out and the police stops by at least once a day. We urgently need more people (climbers and ground crew!) to help us occupy this forest and make it as hard as possible for the police to evict us.

Six years ago my family watched the TV in my living room as John Howard announced he would be sending in the military and taking control of our communities.I have never been more frightened in my life. I locked the gate of my town camp and kept the kids inside for two weeks for fear of them being taken. I worried constantly about my family out bush who didn't understand what was coming.

Anti-capitalists gear up for G8 protests

kyle 25.05.2013 - 20:28
Bild Anti-capitalists have been gearing up for the protests against the G8 Summit with Mayday actions across the country. The focus was on Primark and other businesses profiting from the global slave labour system which led to the death of 700 people in Bangladesh. There were angry protests in central London, Hackney, Lewisham, Birmingham, Brighton and Bristol, with the clear message going out that the disaster was not an accident but the inevitable consequence of the callous capitalist system. Stop G8 is holding another organising meeting in London on May 25 and May 26, before the big week of action in the capital from June 10 to June 14, featuring the #J11 Carnival Against Capitalism. On the Newswire: Mayday protest in central London | Mayday protest in Glasgow | Mayday protests in Birmingham, Hackney and Lewisham | Mayday protest in Bristol | Mayday protest in Brighton | Squatted social centre in Lewes | Guillotine in Worthing | Oxford Stop G8 meeting |Call-out for J11 | Call-out for week of actionOther links: Stop G8 | Resist 2013 UK G8 Summit | Stop G8 on Twitter | They Owe Us
