This morning police seize computers, phones in 'No-TAV' houses activist.
(ANSA) - Turin, July 29 - Activists opposed to a major high-speed-rail project between France and Italy were accused by prosecutors Monday of terrorism. The allegations by prosecutors, made for the first time against the 'No TAV' protesters, came as they ordered searches of their premises in Turin and Val di Susa related to protests at construction sites in mid-July. Police say they came under attack from stones, firecrackers and other explosive devices when they moved to break up protests.
Computers and mobile phones were seized during successive raids. Several members of the anti-TAV movement – who oppose the cost and environmental damage of the railway between Lyon and Turin - have already been sent to prison for 2010 protests The activists have organized a series of protests against the high-speed rail link throughout Italy over the last few years. Some have included violent clashes with police and disruption of highway traffic. Supporters of the link maintain that it will decrease pollution by minimizing highway shipping and automotive transportation.
