At about 1:45 am they encountered the native-born Mozambican Alberto Adriano in the city park. In his origin they saw reason enough to abuse and beat him and to kick Adriano with heavy army boots when he was already lying on the floor.
Local residents called the police. The three Neo-Nazis were arrested and imprisonded on remand within the same night. Three days later Adriano is officially declared brain death as a result of the heavy head injuries he suffered from the attack.
It is the night before Whitsunday, the 11th of June 2000, when three drunken Neo-Nazis meet at the Mainstation. They decide to move torwards the city. On their way they're repeatedly attracting attention through shouting Nazi-paroles.

10 years after the murder of Alberto Adriano and the 'uprising of the dissidents' afterwards, not much has changed. Still -in Dessau and elsewhere- migrants, homosexuals, antifascists and dissidents are being attacked by Neo-Nazis and racists.
The breeding ground for such deeds is societal consensus made from everyday racism, antisemitism and homophobia. As catalysts among others the gouvernmental foreign policy, to which one can clearly refer to as institutional racism, and the capitalistic exploitation logic can be identified.
Back than, as well as today, we won't accept these circumstances. We want to face the racist daily routine where it is tangible reality:
on the streets, in the schools and within the administrative bodies and the police – which means facing society.
Therefore we want to call for a nationwide antifascist demonstration in commemoration of Alberto Adriano and all other victims of racially motivated violence. Let us set an example against institutional racism, right-winged consensus, Nazi-structures and torwards a consequent and essential antifascist action in Dessau and elsewhere.

Kurzaufruf auf deutsch
10 Jahre nach dem Mord an Alberto Adriano und dem folgenden „Aufstand der Andersdenkenden“ hat sich nicht viel geändert. Immer noch sehen sich Migrant_innen, Antifaschist_innen, Homosexuelle und Andersdenkende auch in Dessau Angriffen durch Nazis und Rassisten ausgesetzt. Den Nährboden für solche Taten bietet der gesellschaftliche Grundkonsens aus Alltagsrassismus, Antisemitismus und Homophobie. Als Katalysator dient unter anderem die von staatlicher Seite betriebene „Ausländerpolitik“, welche klar als institutioneller Rassismus bezeichnet werden kann, sowie die kapitalistische Verwertungslogik. Damals wie heute haben wir keinen Bock darauf, diese Zustände schweigend hinzunehmen. Wir wollen dem rassistischen Alltag dort entgegen-treten wo er täglich spürbare Realität ist, auf den Strassen, in den Schulen, Ämtern, der Polizei, eben In dieser Gesellschaft. Deswegen rufen wir zu einer bundesweiten, antifaschistischen Demonstration in Gedenken an Alberto Adriano und alle anderen Opfer rassistischer Gewalt auf. Lasst uns ein deutliches Zeichen setzen gegen institutionellen Rassismus, rechten Grundkonsens, Nazistrukturen und für ein konsequentes und bitter notwendiges antifaschistisches Handeln in Dessau und anderswo.
