0:14-0:23 Text: At Camp Inski between August 4th and 13th 2006, many
people met to prepare for the protests against the G8 summit in 2007...

1:17-1:21 Next year, the G8 summit is planned for June in Heiligendamm

1:22-1:32 In the end, it’s not only the government leaders who come, but
also 10000 civil servants, or maybe more.

1:33-1:39 During the summit, they must hide in small villages like
Heilgendamm, behind a private army, which is already really a statement
about them.

1:52-1:54 Good afternoon, what do you make of this protest?

1:59-2:01 Good afternoon, what do you make of this protest?

2:09-2:11 Good afternoon, what do you think the meaning of this protest is?

2:23-2:30 That we see the effects of the workings of the G8 and the
World economic summits locally and in every town.

2:31-2:35 Like glass people – they want to have surveilence everywhere.

2:36-2:44 For example, the privitization of water, the education system,
many social structures, and now in Germany with Hartz IV (cuts to
support for the unemployed)

2:45-2:50 That soon I might only receive food stamps or something like that

3:09-3:22 We must make ourselves clear, that refugees come here,
because back in their countries, in which they were born and raised,
they can no longer find the basics to live, or have no luck, find no
job, or something like that

3:23-3:38 Each day 50,000 people die of starvation, and as far as i
know, around 80% of all the starving people come from countries that
mainly produce food for export.

3:39-3:44 Their foundation of life is being destroyed so that
we can live well here, among other reasons.

3:45-3:55 ... that we all are also stuck in this structure and we
reproduce it daily. So it is not just 8 presidents, that somehow produce
this shit, but we are all part of the system.

3:56-4:06 People die from starvation and we throw the food into the
ocean! They don’t die because there is too little food, but rather so
the price of it can remain stable.

4:07-4:09 That doesn’t stop until we pay attention to people’s basic needs.

4:10-4:22 If there are enough goods and materials in the world,
to really feed all the people, and to provide the possibility of a
decent life to everyone, and if that doesn’t happen because of
problems of distribution, that is just not done!

4:23-4:45 It is an artificial lack of resources, which hasn’t existed
for a long time now, because the technical potential is so big,
that far too much can be produced.
The burning, the throwing away, is more profitable than giving
it away, because if one would give it away, it would be totally
against the market-economic logic, because the people wouldn’t
be forced to pay for food. So, it gets thrown away.

4:47-4:52 Today we read: In "Campinski" the resistance simmers –
protest against the G8 summit mixes with holiday fun.

5:03-5:20 Yeah, we make the kitchen. We are from the people’s kitchen
and everyone here should be able to fill their belly, regardless of
how much money they have, or where they come from, or
which language(s) they speak. And I find that it is not only
the issue of the people here in the camp, but also people everywhere

5:35-5:51 We keep raising questions. That means, to look together,
so not to repeat fixed ideas and propose one system, but rather
every day to attempt to go new ways, to try new things, and when
it doesn’t work, then to try something else.

5:52-6:01 Even if the G8 were to never meet again, if turns out
that the protest was so successful, that nothing happens in
Heiligendamm next year, that wouldn’t change anything right away.

6:02-6:13 The summit has a symbolic character. The struggle against the
summit has also shown a symbolic character in recent years and
can provide courage for the struggles that take place in other
countries at the same time.

6:14-6:17 Against which people should really do something and
not just make it a little harder for them.

6:18-6:24 And against which, to protest, to demonstrate, or also to
blockade the Summit.

6:25-6:28 Heiligendamm, 11.08.2006
