Seriously injured man at Security Conference gets no help

During the massive incursion of the police at the "Victims of the Nazis Square" at least one demonstrator was seriously hurt. According to eyewitness reports the injured person received no help for over 20 minutes. Paramedics were not permitted access.

The demonstrator was first beaten up, then, in an obviously unconscious state, thrown from the square. After he lay motionless against a wall for five minutes, he was thrown into a doorway by police, and later into a house. The entrance to the house was blocked by disguised police.

[The section leader of the place didn't want his unit or details of the event to be revealed, a police officer told a reporter.] This wasn't found out straight away; deputy chief of police Jens Viering arrived later, but was shielded from the press.

During the Munich Security Conference 2004 (the "peace conference") the so-called "Munich line" will be more harshly applied - even minor improprieties will be an excuse for unprecedented violent excesses by the police. Something like "urinating in public" or "disregarding traffic lights" will be grounds for arrest.
