15th Febuary: Global demonstration against war
While the European Social Forum took place in Florence/Italy the 15th of Febuary was declared the European action day against war. Aim: Mobilizing 10 billion persons onto the streets. In the meantime mobilizing is done and in more than 350 cities all over the world more people are expected on the streets than ever before: from South African Capetown to Norwegian Bergen, from Honolulu via Cairo and Ciev to Tokyo people will be on the streets, snowy paths and country lanes to avert the impending war against Iraq - even the station on Antarctica joins us.

Ond of the strengths of peace movement is its amplitude: the spectrum ranges from anti-capitalistic groups/networks to national organisations. Problematic however is the attempt of some governments - especially the German government - to instrumentalize the movement for their own interests. Hence also Euro-national members of the social democratic/green government were seen during the > protests against the "security" conference totally different attempts than the movement
Meanwhile other governments -especially the British and Hungarian, try to create a certain mood by repression, pretendedly terror-warnings or bogus dossiers of secret services...
Beyond numerous big demonstrations there are more and more different actions: bloqckades, occupations, own inspections and more.
