- 453 members of both Houses of the British Parliament, including 331 members of the House of Commons and 122 members of the House of Lords, rejected the terrorist label against the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran, and urged the UK government and the European Union to adopt a decisive policy against the mullahs' dictatorship.
In a major parliamentary initiative, the majority of members of the House of Commons and a considerable number of the British Lords announced: "Supporting the struggle of the people of Iran and the People's Mojahedin Organization to achieve democracy and human rights are essential parts of the defeat of terrorism at home and abroad."
The all-party initiative was announced in a press conference on Thursday morning in the House of Commons. Lord Corbett of Castle Vale, Win Griffiths, MP, Lord Clarke of Hampstead, Lord Archer of Sandwell, Baroness Gould of Potternewton, Julie Morgan, MP, and Steve McCabe, MP, addressed the press conference. Ms. Dowlat Nowrouzi, the UK Representative of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), was also amongst the speakers.
The parliamentarians stated: "So long as the mullahs are in power, terrorism under the guise of Islam will continue." They added: "The right of the Iranian people to oppose those who terrorize them, must be respected." The MPs underscored that "the National Council of Resistance of Iran, the coalition which leads the campaign for a democratic, secular and pluralist government, challenges this internal terrorism."
The MPs who supported this initiative include three party leaders, one under-secretary of state, 28 parliamentary private secretaries and five shadow cabinet ministers. Nine heads of parliamentary commissions as well as eight parliamentary whips are also among the signatories.

- Following the press conference at the House Commons, Lord Corbett of Castle Vale and Mr. Win Griffith, MP, issued a statement announcing the initiative by 453 members of both houses of the British Parliament.

The statement reads: "In 1979 the mullahs revived terrorism, this time under the guise of Islam and in the name of God. Over 90 percent of terrorist acts committed in the past 23 years have been carried out directly by the clerical regime or its surrogates."
Members of both Houses reiterated that since Khatami's re-election, the human rights situation in Iran has deteriorated and there has been no real change. They announced: "The people who order these breaches of human rights have done the same before. In 1988, the regime arranged the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in the single year. Those responsible include President Khatami, former President Rafsanjani and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei."

- The clerical regime openly threatened to resort to terrorism in the United States and Europe.
In a speech before members of the suppressive paramilitary Bassij on July 16, Hashemi Rafsanjani, former president and the head of the mullahs' State Exigency Council emphasized openly the clerical regime's use of terrorism.
"We should prepare for a new assault by the enemy. We must respond to it right at the enemy's own heartland," Rafsanjani said.
Speaking of the "vulnerability" of the United States and the West in the face of the regime's terrorism, he added: "As our enemies live like parasites and have to live off their colonies all the time, they thus become extremely vulnerable."
Rafsanjani has always been one of the main leaders of the mullahs' regime. which has carried out more than 450 terrorist operations in the world.

- A Young man was sentenced to death by "being thrown off a cliff".
The state-run daily Nowrouz, reported on July 18 that a young man by the name of Mohammad was sentenced to execution in Tehran by being "thrown off a cliff."
Religious courts in Iran continue to mete out barbaric punishments such as gouging out of eyes, amputation of limbs, stoning and throwing off cliffs and mountain tops. The ruling mullahs' objective in meting out these barbaric punishments is to increase the reign of terror and prevent the spread of antigovernment protests and demonstrations.
The number of executions announced by state-run dailies since the beginning of 2002 has reached 227. But there are many more secret executions, whose victims are mainly political prisoners.

- 76 young men were a arrested in Qom and another young man was driven around the city by the Revolutionary Guards. The daily Abrar reported that the State Security Forces of Qom had arrested 76 people in several stages and turned them over to the Judiciary officials. A young man by the name of Massoud H. was turned around the city after being arrested.

- The mullahs' repressive forces also roamed the streets of Arak and made extensive arrests among the youth. The state-run daily Jomhouri Islami wrote the anti-vice squads of the security forces went to the parks and made widespread arrests.

- Ghalibaf, commander of the State Security Forces announced that some members of the State Security Forces have to wear plain clothes because of the type of their duties.

- Ramezanzadeh, the spokesman for Khatami's cabinet, lauded the State Security Forces for their so-called "scientific and new approach" to the country's problems.

- The daily Ressalat wrote that the country is on the verge of a revolution. Ressalat's Thursday's issue pointed to the growing wave of riots and anti-government protests and added: This means that the potential for dissent and social unrest is so great that it could pose a major challenge to the government.
Ressalat admitted that the government is incapable of responding to the demands of people. It wrote: This situation is a product of the failure of reforms and people's disappointment in achieving their demands through legal means. People's demands will take on a violent form from now on, and they would resort to street protests and social riots.

- Hajjarian, member of the pro-Khatami Participation Front and a close confidant of the mullahs' president, admitted at a meeting of this group to the people's resentment of the clerical regime and said: While we decide for every one, we only represent 20 per cent of society at best. Hajjarian added: We are on the border of danger.

- Workers of Mashad's food products, 400 workers of the Textile Factory of West Kermanshah, and the commercial textile workers of Isfahan staged protest gatherings and demanded the government to attend to their problems.
