LOCK IN in SEVILLE
up to 300 demonstrators locked-in a church to draw attention to lock-in of migrants without papers. Surrounded by police, situation unstable.
As part of the day of demonstrations against the European Summit today in Seville and in order to draw public attention to the lock-in of migrants without papers in this city, a group of up to 300 demonstrators locked themselves into la Iglesia del Salvador at 12.20 today. Among them are members of the Laboratorio Disobediente, the UniversidadNomada and IntergalactiKa. They are demanding that the public institutions open negotiations with the locked-in migrants, who are presently on hunger strike.
The situation is very unstable. At this moment, the church is surrounded by police, and those inside have no water, food, electricity or physical contact with the outside. There is the possibility that the bishop will speak to them. Several members of the press are inside and have conducted a press conference. The locked-in demonstrators are awaiting the arrival of lawyers from the Sevilla Social Forum and are deciding how to proceed. Their situation is extremely vulnerable.
Despite this vulnerability, two activists have taken this opportunity to get married there in the church.

There are several police officers inside the church, guarding the door and making rather erratic threatening gestures to the people inside. Outside, a large crowd of demonstrators continues to shout “No human being is illegal”.
Those locked in are hoping to convince the Social Forum organizers to reroute the demonstration this evening through the church in order to close the lock-in with a highly visible event.

Als Teil des Aktionstages gegen das EU-Treffen in Sevilla und um öffentliche Aufmerksamkeit zu erregen haben sich heute gegen 12:20 etwa 300 Demonstranten in die Kirche gesperrt. Unter den Protestierenden sind auch die Laboratorio Disobediente, die UniversidadNomada und IntergalactiKa. Sie forden Verhandlungen zwischen
offiziellen Stellen und hungerstreikenden Migranten (die ebenfalls in der Kriche sind).
Die Situation ist sehr instabil - Polzei hat die Kirche eingekreist ... [Anmerkung von mir: Sogar die DDR hat die Kirche respektiert und hätte sie niemals gestürmt!]... Die Demonstranten haben weder Wasser, Essen, Strom oder Kontakt zur Aussenwelt. Es ist möglich, daß der Bischof versucht mit ihnen zu sprechen. Verschiedene Presselute sind drinnen und nahmen an einer Pressekonferenz teil. Die Demonstranten warten auf die Ankunft der Anwälzte des Social Forum und wollen dann etscheiden, wie es weitergeht. Obohl die Situation für die Demonstranten gefährlich (vulnerable = verletzbar) ist, haben 2 die Möglichkeit genutzt, zu heiraten.

Die Atmosphäre ist recht ruhig. Die Demonstranten haben ihre Versammlung beendet. Ist bleibt unklar, ob/wann/wie sie rausgehen werden oder nicht. Sie verhandeln gerade mit Vertretern des Social Forum. Es ist unklar, wann sie mit dem Bischof verhandeln wollen, der eine Schlüsselfigur für die Migranten in der Kirche ist. Einige Polizisten sind in der Kirche und bewachen die Tür und versuchen die Demonstranten einzuschüchtern. Ausserhalb der Kriche ist eine Große Menge, die "Kein Mensch ist Illegal" ruft.
Die in der Kirche sind, hoffen daß das Social Forum dafür sorgt, daß die große Demo an der Kirche vorbeizieht, um so die Aktion sichtbar zu machen.

Am Rande des EU-Gipfels im spanischen Sevilla haben sich am Samstag Dutzende von Globalisierungsgegnern in einer Kirche der südspanischen Stadt verschanzt. Die überwiegend französischen und italienischen Aktivisten waren während einer Hochzeitsfeier in die Kirche "El Salvador" eingedrungen und sammelten sich in einem Innenhof. Etwa 100 weitere Demonstranten fanden sich auf dem Platz vor der Kirche ein.
