Streik im Baskenland (en)
On the 20th of june CCOO (which was close to the communists) and UGT (is more closed to socialists) have called for a general strike all over Spain. The general strike is to protest against the new reforms in unemployment policies.
In the Basque Country ELA (closer to moderate nationalists) and LAB (closer to radical left wing nationalists), who are majoritarian have called it a day before for the 19th. They do so to protest CCOO and UGT's agreements in the past with the PP and also to claim for more autonomy for the basque labour policies.

Joxe Elorrieta and Rafa Diez leaders of both ELA and LAB unions were very optimistic about the results after they finished the demonstrations both unions made separetly.
BIDASOALDEA
In Hondarribia and Irun there was a mood for strike. In Hondarribia, all small shops were shut down included cooperative bank "Laborala" and Kutxa. Consum supermarket also was closed.
The Ikastola (basque language school) was fully closed, the same for the public school Biteri. One private religious school was open. In the high school, some students had decided to back the strike while others were attending.
In the health center only one doctor has decided to go on strike. There were not even minimum services. When asked if they were going to go to strike on the 20th they said they didn´t have the intention neither.
As for the public transport it has worked normally. Those going to Donostia were not working since they had had problems in Herrera.
In the entrance to Hondarribia the works were stopped but some constructions works in the area were taking place.
In Irun, the strike is been very strong in the industrial areas. According to one representative from LAB only some small workshops had opened.
The bus services serving different areas were working normally.
The small shops were open during the morning, but when the informative pickets passed by most of them have closed.
RENFE, in the train services are running under minimum services. Euskotren (light train) is also running in minimum services.
In the motorway, some workers were not there, so those who were lucky would pass by an empty toll and get the trip for free.
The airport is been working as normal.
In the afternoon different social groups had a demonstration with the slogan "No to the capitalist globalization. Another Basque Country is possible"
IRUÑEA-PAMPLONA
7 youngsters have been arrested by members of the spanish police accused of harrasment. A lot of pickets have been seen in Iruñea-Pamplona. In the old city, police while trying to arrest one member of one picket they have charged. The same happened at the end of the demo called by LAB. That demo had been allowed in the last moment by the court as the Spanish government representative in Navarre, didn´t want to give permission claiming it would create a "traffic" chaos.
ELA and LAB have denounced the work of the spanish police and the "state of siege" in Navarre.
As for the support for the strike, ELA and LAB where quite happy with 90-95% support in the north of Navarre, 50% in Iruñerria and some factories in the south of Navarre.
In the afternoon some incidents happened in Errotxapea were ppl had to run due to police charges, and one person got arrested.
In the afternoon 5000 ppl took part in the demo youth and feminist associations had called. Tense moments happened when the demonstration was passing in front of Spanish Government offices.
EZKERRALDEA (Left margin of Nervion River around Bilbao - Bizkaia)
The strike in Ezkerraldea is no so massive when compared to other areas in Bizkaia, but it is still quite high, big companies are backing the strike, in Barakaldo building works are colapsed. Small shops are still open most of them.
Buses from the "Transportes Colectivos de Bizkaia" have been running during the morning and the ertzaintza (basque police) has charged in Burceña Bus Station, some got injured.
MARGEN DERECHA (Right margin of the Nervion River around Bilbao - Bizkaia)
At 1:00 pm 75 ppl were in the "Artea" shopping center in Leioa, the place was fully taken by the Ertzaina. Two persons got arrested and three identified. THe mood is peaceful and only fliers are been thrown. AKI is closed, the same for Eroski, Conforama and other smaller shops were closed. Forum was open until the picket arrived and Hidra was open.
In artea, security guards closed the gates when the picket arrived, ppl outside was not allowed in neither ppl inside could get out. This happened during 15 minutes.
As for the small shops it depends. Majority in Romo, Algorta and Leioa were open, and in Sopelana and Berango they were shut down. Caja Laboral offices are all closed.
ORERETA - OARSOALDEA (Gipuzkoa)
Big strike in Orereta. Services, transports, markets, big and small companies, works every thing is been shut in Orereta, Lezo Pasaia and Oiartzun.
At six o'clock the pickets were out in the streets but there is no been major problems with the police since everything was closed. In Alcampo there was a big police presence but there is been no problem as the director decided to close.
At 10:00 am, 300 attended a rally called by LAB in front of Orereta's town hall. Then ppl went to Donostia for the big demo.
At 4:00 pm the film "Pan y Rosas" (Bread and Roses) was shown in the street.
At 7:00 pm there was an assembly and a demonstration called by Duina and the Feminist platform. Nearly 800 ppl gathered. The demo was very noisy but there was no conflict with the overwhelming presence of the police.
