Parallel zum WEF fand in Porto Allegre der Weltsozialgipfel statt, an dem sich 70.000 Menschen der verschiedensten politischen (progressiven) Strömungenbeteiligten. Hier Zwischenbericht vom Weltsozialforum- Teil 1.
Hier habe ich mal einen Bruchteil der Bilder zusammengepackt, die von den Protesten am Samstag und Sonntag stammen. Die Demonstration am Samstag begann mit einer Reclaim The Streets-Party und dem "another world is possible march". Am Sonntag fanden zahlreiche Demonstrationen zu verschiedenen Themen statt.

Polizei stürmt grundlos die Demo
At the site of the permitted rally at Central Park, after the beginning of the march had left for the parade route, the NYPD charged into the remaining crowd. Several people were arrested and some sort of chemical spray (pepper spray,mace) was fired.

Schnellzieh-Holster?!?
In Essen gab es vor ein paar Jahren mal einen Verhaftungsversuch an einem 15-Jährigen, der wegen Verdacht auf Diebstahl eines Mofas einfahren sollte. Bei der Verhaftung gab es eine Rangelei, im Laufe derer der Junge ("Kemal C.") einem Cop die Pistole aus dem Holster zog und flüchtete. Kemal wurde dann in der anschließenden Schießerei erschossen, nachdem er sein Magazin Richtung Polizisten geleert hatte. (Wohlgemekt: als er keine Munition mehr hatte!) Kaum vorzustellen, wenn so etwas bei ner Großdemo passiert wäre. Seitdem sind Schnellzieh-Holster zumindest in Essen verboten.
