First it was Germany that took the shameful step to bring up a proposal of an immigration law that is to take the Humanrights fact out of the Migration picture; and reduce immigration to nothing but to let into Germany those needed by Big capital( like computer experts) . Today it is the turn of Italy . Who follows next and what will be the situation of Humanrights in the EU in the next years is frightening to imagine.
Yesterday (19th January 2001) 150,000 people are reported to have taken to the streets of Roma in protest of the NEW IMMIGRATION LAW proposed to the Italian parliament.
In a small talk with a member of Idymedia-Italy,points of the new law he could remember off head sound almost exactly like the Proposed Germany Immigration
law :
It is in lots of ways a ditto of the German version of the New Immigration Law. Based on the same principle of reducing the posibility of coming into Italy to nothing but to serve big capital like a worker. Thus taking away from the picture the human rights factor like a bases for coming into the country.
Companies that happen to even bring people in the country to work for them have a broad avaliablity of legal possibilities to abuse the workers in question. Then everything is pinned under the interesting conclusion of 'at the end of the contract you've got to leave Italy.' In which case contracts are to be renewed every two years. Thus one can say ensuring the emotional stress that makes even the immigrant-worker probaly ending up illegal and thus more avaliable for abuse by employers.
The German refugees and Immigrant groups as well as other groups that work for socila justice will be gathering in Bremen on the 26 and 27th January 2002 to discuss a German wide tour under the fomous project of CARAVAN. This was the situation before the last elections and the Caravan at the time toured 44 German cites in 30 days. Come and contribute
