Das Forscherteam, das die Zensur von Websites durch google.de und google.fr untersucht, bittet um URLs, die von den genannten Suchmachinen gefiltert werden.
Unlängst wurde gemeldet ( 
http://www.de.indymedia.org/2002/10/32051.shtml ), daß die deutschen und französischen Filialen des populären search engine google.com, google.de und google.fr, obwohl sie zur Suche auf die gleiche Website-Datenbank zugreifen, gewisse Seiten filtern.
In erster Linie betrifft dies, in einer Art vorauseilendem Gehorsam gegenüber mehr Onlineüberwachung fordernden Politikern (siehe auch: http://www.bigbrotherawards.de/ ) neonazistische Sites, ohne die man ganz gut leben kann.
Doch ist es zu Recherchezwecken manchmal notwendig, auf rechtsradikale hatepages zuzugreifen (z.B. um über Planungen für Faschodemonstrationen informiert zu sein); zudem erstreckt sich die Zensur nicht nur auf diese Seiten, sondern auch z.B. auf regimekritische chinesische Pages.
